What is Google Adwords - and why is it so effective at getting the visitors you want to your website?

When someone performs a search on Google, they receive a list of relevant web pages for their search. Also listed, on the right-hand side of the search results, are ads that are relevant to the person's search phrase. For example, if the person searches for "business copiers", they will receive a list of web pages relevant to "business copiers", and a list of ads posted by companies who have bought the "business copiers" search phrase.

Buying AdWords advertising is based on an auction system. Companies will bid on search keywords (eg "business copiers"), and the higher bids will get placed closer to the top of the page - thus receiving more traffic. Interested customers will click on the ads and be directed to the companies' websites. And because AdWords is a pay-per-click ad system, you only pay when people actually click on your ad.

The Many Advantages of Google AdWords

Since the early 2000s, Google has quickly grown into the world's leading advertising media provider. There's a reason for that - it's because it works. AdWords is the most efficient way of attracting targeted visitors to your website, to increase sales and build brand awareness. Here are just a few of the many benefits of Google AdWords:

  • Pay-per-click: only pay when actual people visit your website
  • Google's network is HUGE - reach 80% of web users anywhere in the world (billions of people!)
  • Your advertising is always ON - be there whenever potential customers are searching - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Target geographic regions (eg. 25 km radius of a restaurant, all of Ontario, Canada, worldwide, etc.)
  • Select very specific keywords (eg. "buy timex g2 watch") or more general (eg. "timex watches") - so you're ensured of getting highly qualified traffic
  • Instant access to Google's search network - get to the top of Google in one day
  • Low cost minimums - reach pre-qualified potential customers for a very reasonable investment
  • Budget control - adjust up or down anytime
  • Destination control - send people to a specific page on your website
  • Minimal impact on your website - no need for a costly redesign
  • Continual feedback, analysis and performance reports

We had a website for years, but traffic was minimal, and interested prospects were few and far between. We signed up with ALYRT, who took the time to get to know our organization and requirements, and created an outstanding awareness plan. Within a month we had a steady stream of phone calls and emails that continues to this day. Our website now has a front seat in our organization's communication program."
